smile up in the skies just like you did in our presence Josh Phillips Portsmouth, OH: At approximately 8 o'clock this morning a student was struck by a commercial truck The Portsmouth Elementary student was headed from her house on Grant St in Portsmouth to go to the bus stop like she does every morning. According to witnesses, the juvenile was walking with a friend who was pushing her to move a little faster or they would miss the bus. As they quickly crossed the alley they were met with a terrifying sight, a large speeding truck headed towards their way. The driver slammed on his breaks trying to miss the girl but it was too late. The victim was transported to Southern Ohio Medical Center where reports of injuries are severe but unknown at this time. It is unclear if the driver will be charged criminally Redneck news Anchor does live report on "Gay Marriage" in Alabama after gay marriage is legalized2/13/2015 Jeremy Todd Addaway, a independent reporter for “Redneck News,” tried and failed to find evidence that the legalization of same-sex marriage in Alabama had caused any damage to the state, Talking meme reports I spoke with Jeremy today regarding the video & he has this to say: Jeremy says, " I am a liberal type of guy, I see a lot of backward things going on in the state of AL. Our county is dry & people around here are living in the past. My goal with this video is to show people that the sky is not falling because gay marriage is now legal. No one is going to wake up gay, I woke up this morning straight as ever. Everyone is getting too wound up about it" “I read on the news today some information, that homosexuals will be getting married in Alabama today, so I wanted to give you a live report from Blount County,” he stated Addaway searched his backyard for evidence of “homosexuals doin’ homosexual things” in the turn of the Supreme Court’s decision to authorize employees in the state of Alabama to marry the same sex “This pile of brush is still here, and there are no homosexuals layin’ on top of it, doin’ homosexual things,” Addaway said. “None in the shed either, but we need to check into this further,” he carried on as he continued to investigate in his backyard “We’re back here by a pile of junk — and it’s still here — and there’s no homosexuals doin’ homosexual things here either, so it looks like we’re pretty safe here in Blount County, don’t think we’re gonna be subject to plagues of homosexuals fallin’ from the sky.” “That’s the report here from Blount County,” he concluded. “Everything is pretty much still the same.” Jeremy posted the video on Monday & by Friday it had been viewed over 743,000 times, and was featured on Talking Points Memo, Raw Story and other sites today. Jeremy has created T-Shirts to support his cause in which $2.50 of it will go to the Birmingham Aids Outreach Program

Last week, a former employee of Golden Corral in New Boston posted a video online from inside the kitchen. This week, Rick Trant, director of operations for Platinum Corral, announced that the New Boston location was closed on Jan 5. Platinum Corral is a franchise owner of several Golden Corral restaurants. When asked about the influence that video had on the closure, Trant said the decision to close the New Boston location was made prior to the videos and is unrelated.-Portsmouth Daily Times Golden Corral franchise owner Platinum Corral announced Monday afternoon the closing of its New Boston location. “The New Boston location was closed on Jan 5th for business reasons as the franchisee owner restructured operations at several restaurants under its control. Platinum Corral did not renew its franchisee agreement at the New Boston location,” said Rick Trant, director of operations for Platinum Corral. Meanwhile, rumors were spreading on social media that the restaurant was closed because of health concerns. The Scioto County Health Department, however, told the Daily Times they were not involved in the closure. According to www.platinumcorral.com, “Platinum Corral was founded in 1996 as a multi-unit franchise operator of Golden Corral Buffet-Grill restaurants. We have become one of the largest, most progressive and fastest growing operations in the system with units in North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky.” The next closest locations Platinum Corral operate are in Ashland, Kentucky, and Chillicothe, Ohio. No further information was available at press time. UPDATE: Following the sudden closure of New Boston Golden Corral on Monday; OhioMeansJobs-Scioto County is reaching out to the displaced workers to offering services. The village of New Boston is also assessing the impact of the closure. “We are trying to put out information to those people who may have been displaced, by the unfortunate closing of the Golden Corral. We’re not exactly sure of the folks who have been displaced, how many there are, if they were full time or part time. We want to let those people know, there are people at Community Action and Ohio means jobs, which do have services available,” said Steve Sturgill, executive director of the Community Action Organization of Scioto County. Sturgill said the services they can provide include, access to computers and net works that have job listings throughout Ohio and locally. “It’s a pretty extensive service that’s available to them. We are just putting out the call, there are folks they can call at Community Action to seek assistance,” Sturgill said. He said those interested in seeking services can call 740-354-7545 and ask for the OhioMeansJobs staff. New Boston Mayor Jim Warren said he’s still trying to figure everything out after the sudden closure of a business that been in the village for roughly 20 years. On Tuesday afternoon, Warren said he had not been able to talk to anyone from Golden Corral about the closure. Warren was not certain the potential impact of the closure will have on the village. “It will have an impact on the income tax, but it’s the job loss that we’re more concerned about,” Warren said. Statement Dialogue: 01/02/2015 1. I started my short career at Golden Corral of New Boston, Ohio on November 4. That was my first day on the job. 2. Within a short period of time I began to realize all the food regulations they were breaking and how unsanitary they were. 3. So the next day I began to secretly record and take notes of all the shady activity that was occurring in the stores kitchen. 4. My Trainer that day was another employee of the store. She showed me how they changed the date of preparation or the expiration on leftover food items. She also informed me that the dates were changed on a daily basis until the food item was gone and served to the customers. It didn't matter how outdated or how spoiled the food was, as long as it got served and not waited. 5. It was mixed in with newer product so it wasn't noticeable to the customers. 6. I did receive many complaints from customers advising me how the food didn't taste right. 7. I personally saw chicken that was green and had a foul odor cooked and served on the food serving lines. 8. I confronted the manager about it and he told me it was none of my concern and to do what I was told. 9. I found that fish was being left out for hours reaching temperatures far beyond what was acceptable. My highest temperature reading was in the high 70’s, but that fish was eventually cooked and served even though it was well beyond acceptable to consume and smelled horribly. 10. I only worked there for a short time but I received three or four burns on my arms from the steam and hot water coming in contact with my skin due to the malfunctioning of the equipment. I was told by a manger to suck it up and do my job. 11. I quickly reported this to the local health department. 12. On November 9 I got a call from my manger to report to work to discuss a issue 13. When I got to work the manager advised me that he found out I was videoing everything that was happening. He said that someone came to him and said they thought I was undercover working for the health department which is absurd. 14. He said that he could not have me talking about the food being undercooked. I told Jeff that they were not cooking their food right and that it was a problem. 15. The manager told me since I had made that comment I can not be working for them. Below are a few reviews from customers who ate at Golden Corral of New Boston provided by Google.com Joan Ella 1 month ago- Threw me out before I finished my meal saying that i had enough. Did the same a few weeks earlier because their electric went out, no refunds or re enterys... Management supports police corruption. located in 4140 Gallia St. avoid ! oh, the food ...More Anonymous 2 months ago Agree with Ami, if the manager she is talking about is the tall skinny dark hair guy with glasses, he is very rude, I asked him to cut me off some more ham and he told.me to just come back up when I finished what he cut for me,like I was some child, not going back till they get a manager with some people skills Ami Weiler 1 year ago Very disappointed. The buffet was dirty. The food was like rubber and my son found rotten pepperonis. The manager is rude and needs to be fired. I have watched the manager curse and scream at employees in front of customers. This is not a customer friendly place to eat. I will not go back until they have new management or they clean up their act. I would like to say on a positive note the wait staff is very efficient and they do an excellent job. I would not recommend eating here. My family also got very sick after eating there at our last visit. Since this occurred I have received threating phone calls from the manager stating that I am banned from the premises and If I was to step foot on the property that the police would be called & arrested for trespassing. They also withheld my check for 2 weeks and had to call the main corporate office to advise them of this and that I need my check which is also illegal federally |
